I am a single-mom, working hard for me and my only son, Keanne. All throughout his gradeschool years, I never pressured him about his studies, I just made sure that he does what he needs to do. He is a jolly kid and is not the very studious type, he never made it to the top of his class though he had good grades. Then fifth grade came, his teacher informed me that he was among those chosen to represent the school in the Mathematics Trainers Guild. I was pleasantly surprised and though it would mean extending my waking hours to cheer him on during the contests and sending him off to trainings, I was willing to sacrifice because I know that my son is doing this for both of us.
On his first year, he did not make it to the point of representing the country for the contest but it was okay. He still went farther than we both expected. On his sixth grade, he was once again chosen to represent the school and by God's grace, was able to make it. He is now among those who will be representing the country in the 2017 International Mathematics Open for Young Achievers (IMOYA).
This is a dream come true for both of us. However, being a single-mom, it is a challenge for me to come up with the amount needed for him to go and represent the country in Singapore, which, according to the organizers will be roughly Php50,000, which will cover his airfare, accommodations, tours, registration, etc; pocketmoney not yet included. Since he will be representing a private school (he took his gradeschool in a private school in Pasig though he is now in a science high school), we would need to personally raise funds for him.
Thus, I am appealing to all of you to help fund his dream of representing our country in this Mathematics competition. I hope that with your help, he will be able to go and though I won't be able to join him because of financial constraints, I will be with him in prayers, I hope that you will pray with me too for his safety and success.
Thank you very much and God bless!
